For motors of different uses, in addition to necessary parameters such as power, rated voltage, torque and speed, the matching relationship between the motor volume and the supporting equipment space is particularly important, especially for the case where the space to accommodate the motor is particularly small, there will be more constraints on the requirements for the motor volume and shape.
For most industrial motors, the supporting equipment does not have particularly high requirements for the volume of the motor, so the volume of industrial motors is relatively large. Therefore, industrial motors have greater freedom in choosing electromagnetic wires, core materials and other conductor materials. In the product design process, the motor volume can also be adjusted to optimize and meet the performance indicators such as motor temperature rise and efficiency. In other words, due to the relative flexibility of industrial motor installation, industrial motors are not very demanding in terms of power density, and the motor's output direction, cooling method and other conditions that affect the volume and shape are relatively less constrained.
As for automotive motors, the space for motors is subject to many restrictions due to the overall requirements of vehicle body space and performance improvement. Therefore, the overall matching with the vehicle body can only be achieved by maximizing the power density of the motor. The power density of automotive motors is currently at the level of 3.5-4kW/kg. With the popularization of new energy vehicles and the continuous improvement of motor technology, this indicator is expected to increase further. For this reason, automotive motors are very particular about design and materials. For example, in terms of the selection of electromagnetic wires, improvement of winding types, control of motor core materials, and selection of permanent magnet materials, the requirements are higher than those of ordinary industrial motors, especially for the higher endurance requirements of electric vehicles, which puts forward higher satisfaction requirements for matching motors.
Therefore, due to the different application characteristics of automotive motors and ordinary industrial motors, there will be a large difference in the requirements for volume.
